This EP was inspired by the amazingly hot summer experienced by Karl Nova in London in 2018. He had already had the track "Say So" which was a track that blended warm afrobeat sounds with hip hop. So after returning from a trip to Canada where all he was hearing was afropop being played by his Nigerian friends, he decided to create this EP

The track "international style" was created on that trip to Canada and set the direction for the rest the EP. It is a musical recalling of his childhood in Lagos Nigeria that has been sparked up by the current explosion of afropop being experienced in the UK (London especially). It is also a search for identity. Karl Nova has always felt culturally misplaced. He has always felt not fully part of any music scene because of his sound and way he expresses himself. This EP is him revisiting the African part of himself and expressing it in his current British context of being a Londoner and world traveler.

You can hear the Fela Kuti influence especially on the tracks "International style" "1am in Kalakuta" and "Chapman & Suya" There is a lot going on in the music for you to sink your teeth into and move you.
